Art Teacher Conference

I attended an art teacher online conference today; it was full of great information relevant for today's art teachers! Over 600 people from all over the world took this 1st ever AOE art conference online.  I am so glad I set aside time today for continuing to learn more about my profession.  I am already thinking of how I can implement some things into my school year!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer break.  I am using mine for a time of reflection, prayer, bunches of family time, putting on an 2 productive summer art camps in my studio late July and a camping trip!   How about you?  What are you doing this summer?

I should stick to my day job.

My handy man husband and I are painting the deck, railings this weekend.  I love to paint, so I started right on it doing well around the top deck railings.  But, once I started working on the stairs, I was too into my work and didn't realize I had tipped the tub over while I was reaching over to paint the other side of the railing.  Whoops!  Can you see the paint splatter on the concrete?  I should keep my day job.  Yes, painting on canvas sounds much better.  I am too much of a free spirit, messy!

Oh well!

Have a wonderful sunny day everyone!  Tell someone today if they "mess up"
it can always be fixed and cleaned up.  =)
God can take a mess (like ME!) and make something
beautiful out of the project.(life.)

The Art School year is officially done.

We had the art show and so I am calling the art school year officially done!  That is the grand finale or as my friend Melinda calls it, my season finale! Ha, ha!  This was our 3rd annual art show at the Lynden Library.  We always have a great crowd of around 300 people.  Our students have a lot of supportive families and friends!
A huge thank you to the Library for being a community minded place.  I appreciate them so much and welcoming us with open arms.  They are happy to accommodate us.  I think we are doing them a favor too by adding wonderful, colorful art to their walls!

Here are a few pictures of the show.
The Mona Lisa Cut out idea is credit to Pinterest.  The actual execution of the project is credit to my hubby's woodworking skills!  He created the wood stand for it to go on.  It was a hit!  What a great addition to the art show this year.  I wish I had a better picture of it from farther away.
Me and one of my amazing art students.  I loved seeing everyone and their families.  What a celebration!
The art was displayed on top of the bookshelves in the kids section.

 It stayed up all week!
What a great variety of artwork.
They were varying ages from 5-16yrs.  Although I took up to 18yrs this year, my oldest was 16yrs.
On top of the magazine stand.
Watercolor/pencil and pastel was displayed on the wall.

The artwork got great exposure to the public and great comments were said all week long.  Great job to all my wonderful students.  I will miss you bunches this summer and look forward to the fall.  Although I do see some of you signed up for Summer Art Camp in July!  whooo hoo!
