It was a lot of work to do a picture out of dots!  But, the result was worth it.  Good job kids!

Mixed media Picasso

The kids made their own Picasso's this month and studied Pablo Picasso.   It was a lot of fun and very imformative!  It was so fun that I let them get out the door without taking a picture of their work.  Sometimes I just get so busy, I cant fit it all in.  But, here is my picasso to give you a good idea of what the project was.
The students got very creative and we cut, glued, painted, oil pasteled, crayoned and inked.   Very fun project that made us think outside the box!

January 2013 works of art

My students brought in one project that they did in class during the month of january.  January was pastel month.  We started and completed a picture each day of class!  We had great success in January, Pastels.   Oh and also, we used a different kind of pastel each day that month, so fun!

I have the pleasure of having these beautiful pictures on my wall this month!
What a blessing to see these everyday!

Here is a sneak peak of my wall of art in the studio.

January 2013 month art classes are now over.

Artist, Lina, Age 14 (at the time of drawing).

Just looking through old artwork, isn't this one above, great!?

I have been very busy lately, I have been teaching an art class at a local elementary school after school one day a week.  Also, at a different elementary school, I will be giving a presentation at a family fun night.  I will be speaking about what my art classes are like and what we do.   The school wants to know what is out there for kids to do in our community.   Then starting in 2 weeks, I will be teaching a class at Lynden Academy once a week.    There is never a dull moment here!
My home studio classes are going really good!  .  In January we worked with pastels and now we are on break until February.  It was a really rewarding month with great artwork to prove it.

In February, we will be working with Clay and Paper Mache'. It will be a very hands on month!    It is not too late to sign up if you would like to join us!
Have a great week everyone!

December 2012

Merry Christmas 2012!

We had a great month here at the studio in the month of December.

We all worked on various images on Scratch paper.
Here is a bald eagle by artist, David age 12

We worked on paper quilling.
Here is a wreath done by artist, Karah, age 14

An elf visited the studio yesterday and gave me a candy cane,
one of the 4 food groups of elves.  Ha!  She looked pretty darn cute.
It made all the kids smile.

We all made a stamp.  There were various images made the with stamps.
This is  just some of the wonderful stamps that were made this month!

My assistant, Karah Clover is a wonderful artsit herself and she is also a great writer!  I took a picture of her poems that she drew pictures on and wanted to send them to you, but the words don't show up.  I will have to show them a little better to you at a later date, but at least you can see her awesome artwork.  Way to go, Karah!!! You are a blessing to me and the kids.  So glad God is  using you right where you are at.

Well, off I go to bake Christmas cookies.  Much love goes out to you all.  A very Merry Christmas is wished for all my art students and their families!!!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

See you in January for Pastel month.
