Busy, Busy in April!

I wanted to give you a glimpse of what we have been working on in April.

And we aren't done yet!

Artists are painting their Kiln Clay and then making something with Air dry clay this week.  Lot's of amazing hand built pieces.  They amazed me at their creative abilities!  These were not made of a mold; in fact these were made out of their imagination.  Very nice job!!!  Some of these will be ready to take home this week and then some may not be ready to take home until the 1st week of May, just because of the timeline.  All the classes are on a different schedule, that is just how it worked out this month.  But, rest assured they are GREAT and worth waiting another week to take home if need be.

Did you see these cute new aprons this week?  They are definitley a step up from the YMCA T-Shirts!

Thanks to Hat's Off in Lynden for making these Aprons!

See you soon everyone!

You can own original artwork by B. Calvert!

For Sale to benefit a great cause.....
"Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for Him" Ps 37:7. The words "wait patiently" in Hebrew actually mean "to dance".
Jill Ludlow, from http://www.fullsail.org/
spoke at a womens conference a few years back and in her talk she put this mental image into our heads that has always stuck with me. Remember back to when you were a little girl dancing on your daddy's feet. We were so happy, letting him do the leading, we are being still, but yet we are still moving.  He is moving us, showing us where to go.    He is in control and we are so happy and at peace with it!

The sale of this print benefits a great cause: Some whom I know that can relate to waiting patiently are Jason and Meagan Vanderveen.  They are adopting 2 orphaned children from Haiti.  Proceeds from this sale will go to this family.

Coming up

What you all are waiting for.............................Working with Clay!!!!!!
It is coming up in April 2012; we are going to make pinch pot critters.  The kids will have the freedom to pick whichever animal they want to create.  I had my kids do this the other day and I was pleasantly surprised with what they came up with to make.  Very fun.

Here is my pinch pot critter that I made and my kids painted it for me.
The possibilities are endless of what animal can be made.   These clay creations will be fired in a kiln 2 times before they are done!  They will be fantastic.  Thank you to Pam with Tickled Paint Studio for letting me use her kiln!  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tickled-Paint-Studio/172453159441230

On a side note, my classes for April are full. Thank you everyone who signed up, it is going to be a fantastic month!

For any new students coming to my home studio,

Have a great spring break April 1-7 and I will see you the week of April 11-14 at the Pine Street Studio!

Pop Art    March 2012
 Allison, Age 13

Students in my 9 different art classes in March did Pop Art in Acrylic paint.  Students were instructed to draw 4 pictures all the same, but paint them different colors.  We had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed seeing what came out of our March classes!

Here are my Saturday class pictures featured to give you a glimpse into our March Art Classes here at Art with B. Calvert.

Awesome pictures, right?!  You see why I love coming to work!  =)
That has been a great project this month and I have had great feedback on our March classes.
Have a great weekend,

Remember: at the end of May, ALL my students will hold an art show and your art will be featured at the Lynden Library!  We hold a reception where parents, aunts, uncles, friends and grandparents come and check out the art and can meet the artists!  It is a lot of fun and I look forward to that.
